Mid Mod Haven is a comprehensive renovation of an existing mid-century modern residence, undertaken to restore architectural clarity while recalibrating the home for contemporary living. Rather than replacing the original design intent, the project works within it—refining, revealing, and extending the qualities that defined the home’s modernist origins.
The renovation preserves the home’s low-slung profile and strong horizontal emphasis, reinforcing its relationship to the site. Interventions were carefully targeted to improve spatial flow, daylight penetration, and functional performance while maintaining the integrity of the original structure. New elements are introduced with restraint, clearly distinguishable yet complementary, allowing old and new to coexist without competition.
Interior spaces were reconfigured to support modern patterns of living while respecting the home’s open-plan logic. Strategic modifications improve circulation and connectivity, while expanded glazing strengthens the visual and physical connection to outdoor spaces. Materials and details were selected to align with mid-century principles of simplicity, structure, and material authenticity.
Mid Mod Haven represents a measured architectural renewal—one that values preservation through evolution. Renovation extends the life of a modernist home by reinforcing its original DNA, resulting in a residence that feels both rooted in its era and fully responsive to the present.
