Sanctuary Renovation & Master Planning
The sanctuary renovation and master planning for Congregation Kol Ami in White Plains, New York, reimagined the worship environment while establishing a long-term architectural vision for the campus. The project balances respect for tradition with thoughtful spatial planning to support prayer, music, education, and community life.
The sanctuary renovation focused on improving sightlines, acoustics, and spatial clarity to enhance the congregational experience. Architectural adjustments strengthened the relationship between the bimah, ark, and seating, allowing the space to function comfortably for both intimate services and large gatherings. Lighting was redesigned to provide layered illumination appropriate for worship, reflection, and celebration.
Interior materials and detailing were selected to reinforce warmth, durability, and continuity with the synagogue’s character, creating a cohesive and welcoming sanctuary environment.
The master plan evaluated campus circulation, accessibility, program adjacencies, and phased improvements, providing a clear roadmap for future renovations and expansion. This long-term planning effort aligns architectural priorities with congregational needs, operational goals, and responsible stewardship.
Together, the sanctuary renovation and master plan create a cohesive architectural framework that strengthens worship, supports community engagement, and positions Congregation Kol Ami for continued growth in White Plains.
